Introduction
This is a very interactive workshop which enables participants to discuss issues concerning Equality and Diversity, and learn from each other as well as from the workshop facilitator.
Why attend?
Despite many steps forward in the field of discrimination over the last 50 years, we still have a long way to go to create a fair society. As far as organisations are concerned there is a lot that can be done to improve diversity practice. As individuals too, however aware we are, we sometimes make mistakes.
Who should attend?
All those who wish to raise their awareness of equality and diversity issues in the workplace and consider how they can take action to improve diversity practice.
Aims
The purpose of the workshop is to enable participants to learn more about Equality and Diversity, reflect on their own practice, and see how they can make a contribution to improved diversity practice in their organisation.
Learning Outcomes
The course will enable participants to:
- Understand what we mean by diversity and what equality and diversity mean in practice
- Understand more about diversity in organisations
- Have a basic knowledge of the Equality Act
- Reflect on how stereotyping works and what can be done about it
